第14回トランスナショナル・シネマ・シンポジウム（TCS）2026では、日本の台湾統治・アジア太平洋戦争を背景に、日本軍内の台湾籍兵士や軍属（主に通訳）、細菌戦や「慰安婦」手配に協力した台湾人医師や業者、日本人として豪州で収容されたアジア各地の台湾出身者、その子孫たち、華人虐殺地を慰霊する日本人など、世代をまたぐ複雑で多面的な戦争記憶を扱ったドキュメンタリー映画『島から島へ』を上映する。権威ある金馬奨で2024年最優秀ドキュメンタリー賞、2024年台北映画賞で年間最優秀映画賞、最優秀ドキュメンタリー賞を受賞するなど高い評価を得た作品。昨年、日本でもいくつかの大学で上映会が開催されたが、今回のTCSでは、留学生を含む幅広い参加者を得るために使用言語に英語を加える。また、監督が金馬奨の授賞スピーチで本作品の内容を象徴する人物として紹介した方にもお話を伺う。上映会後の座談会では、「家族の記憶としての戦争の記憶」「植民地の言語政策と戦争における通訳の役割とリスク」「監督自身のトランスナショナリティー」などのトピックを扱う。

マレーシア出身で台湾を拠点に活躍する映画監督。国立台湾芸術大学映画学科を卒業。デビュー作『Boluomi』（2019年）は、釜山国際映画祭ニューカレンツ部門や金馬奨最優秀新人監督賞にノミネートされた。マレーシア共産党の歴史を扱ったドキュメンタリー作品『Absent Without Leave』（2016年）と『The Tree Remembers』（2019年）は、マレーシアで上映禁止となっている。最新作の劇映画『人生は海のように』（2025年）は東京映画祭ワールド・フォーカス部門で上映された。
Lau Kek-huat is a Malaysia-born filmmaker based in Taiwan. He studied film-directing at the National Taiwan University of Arts. His debut film, Boluomi (2019), competed in the New Currents at the Busan International Film Festival and was nominated for Best New Director at the Golden Horse Awards 2019. His documentaries dealing with the Malaysian Communist Party “Absent without Leave” (2016) and “The Tree Remembers” (2019) still face censorship challenges in Malasia. His latest feature film, The Waves Will Carry Us (2025), was featured in the World Focus at the Tokyo International Film Festival.

藍適齊（Lan Shichi） 氏
専門は台湾史、近現代東アジア史、歴史記憶。ボルネオで台湾人捕虜監視員が日本軍の捕虜虐殺に関わった戦争犯罪を描く台湾公共テレビ連続ドラマ『聽海湧（邦題：波の音色）』（2024年）でも歴史顧問を務めた。
Lan Shi-chi is an associate professor in the Department of History at the Taiwan National Chengchi University, specializing in Taiwanese history, Modern East Asian history, and war memory. He also served as historical consultant for the Taiwanese public TV drama series Three Tears in Borneo about Taiwanese prison guards in the Japanese Army in Borneo, being involved in war crimes.

Lan Lin Shing-jy was born in Hong Kong to Taiwanese parents in early 1945; interned by the British authorities with her family in September 1945 and subsequently repatriated back to Taiwan in February 1946.
